Severe Thunderstorms / Lightning Photos from July 15th 2009 in Bixby, OK
On Wednesday July 15th 2009 several severe thunderstorms rolled through the city of Bixby. I was lucky enough to get some amazing lightning photos from the storms. This gallery represents what has been probably my best lightning shoot to date! Severe weather is one of those things that really gets my blood pumping. During parts of the storm there was so much lightning that it appeared to be daylight at times. I really like the criss cross shot as well as the shots which show multiple lightning strikes. In one of the lightning photos you can actually see the lightning puncture a low cloud. The camera settings I used on most of the shots were ISO 100, f/4.0-f/5.6 with a 4 second exposure using a Canon EOS 40D with a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens. One thing is for sure, there are few things in life as exhilarating as a good Oklahoma thunderstorm!
