Fireworks Mishap at ONEOK Freedom Fest, Tulsa OK

Fireworks Mishap at ONEOK Freedom Fest, Tulsa OK July 4th 2009

Each year the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma puts on quite a show for the 4th of July with it's fireworks display. Formerly known as the Boom River Celebration the show has now been renamed to the ONEOK Freedom Festival. This year the event only lasted 10 minutes due to a fireworks explosion on the 21st Street Bridge. Fortunately no one was hurt but the show was cancelled due to the resulting fire from the explosion. This wasn't the only firework to go off on the ground. As you will see in the photos there was another fireworks explosion early on but aparently that explosion wasn't bad enough to stop the show. The fireworks that did go off were quite spectacular and created quite a few oohs and ahhs from the crowd. I took my photographs from the east bank of the Arkansas River next to the Pedestrian Bridge and waterfall, also known as Zink Lake.
