Storm Chasing Photos of 2010 - Storm Chasing Photo Gallery!

Best Storm Chasing photos of 2010 by Emmett Lollis Jr.

This a collection of my favorite storm chasing photos taken during the 2010 storm chasing season including photos of a funnel in Sapulpa. I hope you enjoy looking at these images as much as I enjoyed taking the photos!

June 27th 2010 Storm Chase

There wasn't much chasing involved in this series of storm chasing photos. The storms rolled right past my house so I only ended up driving a few short miles to get these awesome photos. I wish it was always that easy! In the final photo you can see some amazing natural colors. The photo was taken looking north so there were no sunset effects here.

June 16th 2010 Storm Chase

On June 16th 2010 I went on a spur of the moment chase with my good friend Gladys. The storm rolled through Tulsa and we ended up chasing it through broken arrow. There was actually a funnel reported in Catoosa a little while after we stopped the chase but I'm very happy with the quality of storm photos this opportunity presented.

May 19th 2010 Funnel

On May 19th 2010 I had the opportunity to go on a wild storm chase with my friend Tonya that ended up with spotting a funnel in Sapulpa Oklahoma. Just before these photos were taken we actually were sitting just under a rotating funnel cloud which appeared to touch the ground due to a power flash in the area. We backed up the road a bit and got the photos below. In the first 3 images you can see some low level scud that was getting sucked in to the storm. The next set of images shows the funnel and some scud getting sucked together. The final photo was taken while looking straight up into some clear rotation. It was an amazing and intense night for a storm chase!

May 13th 2010 South Tulsa Storm Damage

During the early morning of May 13th 2010 the Tulsa Oklahoma area saw a rare outbreak of tornadoes. The next morning I went out to survey some of the damage in South Tulsa. The damage in these photos was believed to be from strong straight line winds but was still awe inspiring. This also happened to be the area where Channel 2's own George Flickenger was doing his storm damage report. Great minds think alike :)

May 10th 2010 Storm Chase

This was my first chase of the season. I went with my friend James Farris. We chased this storm through the south part of Okmulgee. This is the same storm that devistated Oklahoma City just a short time earlier. You can see clear photos of the wall cloud, some mammatus clouds made for some striking sunset photos and the last photo shows a trailer which was lifted and tossed into the street.
